In old part of town Split, just a short walk from Diocletian's Palace, there is a fairytale house that you will fell in love with at first glance. We can say, you will be delighted with the exterior, which is probably one of the most beautiful and romantic we have ever had the opportunity to see.  If you are far from your place and you want to feel like you're at home, Villa Sweet Home will provide you a luxurious stay in traditional surroundings full of enchantment that only the Mediterranean can offer. Villa Sweet Home will allow you to experience Split as it once was.

This five star villa has been completely refurbished in 2018 with exceptional care and detail. The family owned restoration followed the laws of the Ministry, Protection and Preservation of ancient Monuments. Villa Swett Home has two floors, namely 70m² plus auxiliary cottages within the building, measuring 45 m². It is actually a two-storey house with two utility houses. On the first floor of the main house there are two bedrooms, bathroom and terrace. The ground floor has a kitchen with dining area and living area, large bathroom and small storage. There are two exits to the court, which is very practical, especially during summer days.

All the interior rooms are made from original stone of old house. Generally, owners wanted to keep as many original pieces as possible and blend them into a modern, industrial-style shade and design. The bedrooms are airy and relaxing as they should be. White in combination with pigeon gray prevails. Bathrooms feature retro tiles and a glass shower. The lower part of the house, however, is somehow darker because of this stone, but with the incorporation of an industrial style of lighting it has received some gentleness and a pleasant feeling. The kitchen is custom made.

In the room leaning on the house is the so-called - cavepool. This pool is actually a room where olive oil was stored in the 18th century. The whole room is coated with epoxy resin and illuminated by a starry sky. The special charm of the home is a 20m² garden with a table for dining. Garden can also be used as a private open-air cinema because there is big TV, and with a good movie, they can also barbecue and socialize. The garden is full of various plants, a fence of jasmine that smells irresistible, roses and succulents in barrels and olives over 70 years old. There are also lemon tree, wisteria, bougainvillea, hydrangea...

Villa Sweet Home is located just 500 meters walking distance to the world heritage site city of Split and The Diocletian Palace.  Street in which villa is situated, is the one of the closest narrow streets to the scenic Marjan hill. The hill is one of the main recreational centers in the city of Split. It is also the setting for numerous beaches and jogging trails as well as tennis courts.

Step inside Diocletian’s Palace (a Unesco World Heritage site and one of the world’s most impressive Roman monuments) and you’ll see dozens of bars, restaurants and shops thriving amid the atmospheric old walls where Split life has been humming along for thousands of years.  Through the narrow alleys surrounding Villa Sweet Home we offer free parking places for up to three cars. If you are not confident to drive through the narrow street, we can offer you our assistance or you can keep your car in the public parking which is 150 meters from the house (please note if you use a public parking, there is daily fee).

Location

Split is a Mediterranean city, situated on the Marjan peninsula at the centre of the eastern Adriatic coast. Because of its favourable geographical position, Split has a typical Mediterranean climate, with long, dry, warm summers and short, mild, rainy winters. Split is the cultural and political centre of Dalmatia and is the official seat of the Split–Dalmatia County. The official history of Split stretches back for 1700 years, when the Roman emperor Diocletian built his palace (emulating the form of the Roman military camp) as a place to which he would retire after stepping down from the imperial throne. However, preceding Diocletian’s palace, the site held the Greek colony Aspalathos, meaning the plant called Spanish or weaver’s broom (Spartia juncea). The plant is still numerous, especially on the southern slopes of the park-forest Marjan.

Split lies on the Adriatic coast, central Dalmatia, on the Split (Marjan) peninsula. Although surrounded by sea as a peninsula, Split also borders with surrounding mountains, Mosor on the northeast, Kozjak on the northwest, and Marjan hill as one of the most important symbols of the city, rising on the west side of the peninsula, in the immediate vicinity of the old city centre. Split is also surrounded by the islands Brač, Hvar, Šolta and Čiovo. Thanks to the Mediterranean climate, winters are mild in Split, lasting from December to March, although the actual experience of winter can really be felt only in February. For this reason all the comforts of Split can be savoured for most of the winter, from sightseeing the Diocletian Palace to the tastings of all the delicacies in numerous restaurants, and at the Christmas fair on the Riva during the entire December Christmas holidays. It is not even so unusual to spend sunny winter mornings sitting on the café terraces.

Spring in Split lasts from March to June, and it is one of the best seasons to visit Split. The average temperature is the ideal 20°C, abundant in sunny periods ideal for walking on Marjan, excursions, and even swimming in the late spring. During this season Split begins its life in the open, it is the waking moment of its streets and city squares. Although high temperatures characterize the summer in Split, sometimes even over 35°C, spreading from June to the end of September, you can find refreshment in the beautiful Adriatic sea on many of Split’s beaches or on the nearby islands, while during the summer nights you can unwind through different events, such as the Days of Diocletian, Split summer festival and many others, where everyone can find something for themselves, and where you will experience a true Mediterranean hustle and bustle. Autumn in Split lasts from September to December, although not a favourite part of the year to some, in many ways it is the most beautiful time of the year to visit Split, especially at the end of September and in October. It is the time when the temperature of the sea is ideal, the summer heat is at its low, and the main season is still on.
